Default RotopaX Mounting locations

Hey guys, I've been looking at the RotopaX containers and I really like them. In the future I'd like to get the JCR tire carrier rear bumper and add the 2 RotopaX containers onto it, but in the meantime I'd like to have a spare fuel can. I've been thinking about where I can mount one or two, and have been coming up short. Does anyone have a RotopaX can that's not mounted to a spare tire? I don't think I should have fuel containers inside the Jeep, and putting it on the rear bumper is a big no no. Any ideas?

Bolt brackets to the hatch.

You may have to remove them for the hatch to stay open on it own but I don't see why you couldn't.

since you are in new jersey i think you can get them here at a place called woody's...or any other online autoparts site like jc whitney. you have to figure out your own part number or call and find out. they are generally just a stronger, higher capacity, gas charged lift support that replaces your factory ones for the hatch.

Two options -

Detours Offroad makes a new gizmo that allows you to bolt them to the rear hatch. Check it out on their web site.

If you have a roof rack, I have used the universal mount from Rotopax, bolted to the rack. I always have two cans lying flat and locked. with the extensions, I can add two more, for a total of 10 gal, lying flat and locked.

I have also used the spare wheel bracket, inside the rear on the left side, to secure my water or first aid can. I used the original bolt used to secure the spare wheel, to bolt the cans in place.

I've been looking on their site and I can't find anything for the hatch. (My friend has their TailBone tire carrier and loves it.) Could you post a link?

I'd like to get a roof rack in the future. What's yours and do you like it?

Ping Mark at Detours. He definitely has a product.
I use a Kargo Master rack with the Jeep rack mounts that attach to the factory rails...

Any more ideas out there for rotopax mounting? I'd like to see a pic of the mounting that was used inside where the spare tire was once located.

If you have a a receiver hitch mount it would be very easy to fab up something that will go into the mount then come up to a tire like setup where you can mount them like where they were intended to be on the spare tire mount.

If your looking at Swing Out Tire Bumper look here at www.roxolidtrailarmor.com

I have the Crawler series and at $600 shipped a great buy and quality bumper here is a photo of mine.
