Got a question for guys who rolled bedliner on their rockers/lower quarter panels...

How did you treat the inner door jam area? Did you just leave the doors shut and roll the outside, or paint the door jam/kickers as well?

I plan to roll my rockers, but with a white jeep I'm worried about the white peeking through the gaps. Any pics of guys who bedlined inside the door jam area would be great!

 

I taped up and matched my door jam. It's nice to not care about scratches right there anymore

 

Do it however you want, just be sure to scuff it up good

 

So did you roller it on inside the door jam? I guess my concern is getting a straight line across towards where the door mounts (by not getting a roller in the wedge of the door). Just seems there'd be a certain point towards the front of the doors where the roller wouldn't fit...

Does that make sense?

 

That's where I used a coarse 2" paint brush for crevices and deep spots. The hard part is getting the texture to look like the roller does and the sanding/taping behind the Doors. But if you do a brush stroke your first coat then on the second and possibly third, you can dab the brush tip and create texture. On a diff jeep I did, I rolled the putter door and scuffed taped and then used a spray coating in a can wich gives great coverage in the jam and gives a nice uniform texture. No rocks a getting slung into the jams so no need to use rhino grade for that.

 

Yeah, I was kinda thinking spray can liner might work better inside the door jams...just more tape work, haha. Spray the inside first, the roller the outside.

 

I rolled it on with the doors closed. I used Monstaliner, and its been on for 4 or 5 months now. Great results (did some SERIOUS surface prep work before rolling).

 

I have a white jeep and I decided to just use spray on bedliner. I'm actually about to cut my rockers off tomorrow and weld in 2x6. I'm going to spray bedliner on the new rockers when I get them in as well. The taping takes longer, but it was so much easier to do with a spray gun. I can post up pics this weekend if you want.

 

I painted my door jambs to match.

Brush, roller, or spray?

 

I'm about to do this project in the spring. Would love to see some pics, and hear more on your prep work.

I have some rust repair in my door jamb to do which seems like an uncommon location for a later model Cherokee. Hoping it's fixable with fiberglass bondo

 

I'll be doing it within the next few weeks (after door rush repair). I'll update when done in my build thread...

 

Has anyone ever tried to take bedliner off? Some serious rust has been surfacing on my rockers on top of the bedliner. I'm wondering what my best option would be...to either just replace the rockers or try to take off the bedliner try to fix the rust (assuming that it's repairable). It was lined before I bought it so I have no idea what it was like before.

 

Prep work is the key. Clean sand clean. Then scuff the paint for the bed liner bond to the paint.

I did spray on. Roll on would look better. I could have done more prep work than I did. Only rode twice since I finished it so hard to say about durability.
