Default rockwell axles vs d60/10.25 porter axle conversion

well i been looking into axles and plan on getting them fully installed by the end of the summer....

whats the big advantages/disadvantages to each? which is better?

i can get a d60/10.25 combo for 700$, then i was gonna get these http://www.filthymotorsports.com/Pro...de=FM-AXLETECH porter axle conversion kit to give me better clearance, to roughly 8-10k for 2 fully built axles installed...

or rockwell axles which i dont know much about other than they are military grade...

so for a 98 2 door cherokee, which should i go with, or which would you go with?

im starting with the axles...i want strength from the ground up....after axles i plant on getting a 5.0 big bore stoker kit, supercharge it, hd custom drive shafts...ect...and drop some big *** tires on it, lol....min 37" max 44"

but as for the axles...whats the big siff between them and whixh is better? i gotta admit what turnd me on to the porters are the extra 5" of ground clearance...

basicly looking to build the ultimate xj for under 20k

Rockwells are pretty much as strong as it gets but you'll need gigantic tires to clear it.

Rockwells are a little heavy for a cherokee on 44s.

rockwells are awesome, but they have some cons. for 1, they only have 1 gear ratio which is 6.72, there are no aftermarket ones either, so you are going to have to run prbly at least 40" tires, and the shafts are weak so anything past 44s or 46s is going to be pushin it. im not sure if anyone makes aftermarket shafts for it though, havent looked into it.
now personally, i would go with a HP KingPin Dana 60 up front with a Chevy 14 bolt rear. there are plenty of aftermarket goodies like R&P, shafts, trusses and shave kits. but thats me
as far as the portals go, they look kool, but i cant justify spending pretty much $3500 on that

ya i understand the price is pretty high...but i really like the fact they lift the diff up by 5"....i figure i could buy a brand new truck for 20K, or build me one that is 100% custom and will last because will be like new, lol...

so i guess since the rockwells are pretty limited and as you guys say big and heavy, my best bet would be the d60 10.5/14 bolt with the portal axle conversion....

that extra 5" lift under the axles to me is worth it....i personally dont know anyone in my area that has em so that uniqueness is also a plus, lol...a new mod to show off, lol

alright guys thx for the info...ill forget the rockwells

If you have 3500 to burn:

60 and the portals. That'd be badass. Gofer it.

If you're a normal person I'd spend that 3500 bucks a bit more wisely.

Rockwells on a cherokee to heavy and pretty much pointless. Those portals are a waist of money it would be cheaper to run unimogs if you can find them. Bottom line you need to do ALOOOOOOOOOOT MORE SEARCHING!
