road noise/vibes after lift
I have a '96 xj 4.0 4wd. Had a 2" RC lift when I bought it 4 years ago. I went to 3" recently. Here's what I did:
-Taller blocks in rear with 3* shims
-Longer pro comp shocks
-1" T/C drop
-2 extra spring isolators stacked up front
-F-250 sway bar links
-Shimmed stock LCA's 1/4"
-Relocated stock trackbar 5/8" to re-center axle
-Set toe as per gojeep
All this gave me a perfect 3" all around. Problem is what I thought was road noise due to alignment issue before all this (it would go away when turning right like on an off-ramp). Now it doesn't change under any condition. Also before all this I had a slight sort of metal screeching sound that was so intermittent I never worried about it. Now it is constant. With everything I have done could I have just exaggerated a u-joint issue somewhere up front? I plan to remove the front shaft and see what happens but it's raining so I thought I might get some opinions or suggestions while I wait it out. Almost forgot, I picked up a shimmy at about 53-58mph. New to all this so will take any suggestions. Thanks
