Default Ring and pinion shop installed , what should it be ?

Long story short , my springs broke in rear Aussie , figured if I have to pull locker again might as well drop in 4.56s as I just got 33s ..... I got quoted 2 local shops both $1600 installed . Both about same $800 parts and the other 8 labor. Is this just crazy on a $2k xj?!? It looks like I can get parts/ 2 install kits and a d30 carrier for $550 on line . Should I just do my self ? I did my lockers but they act funny and I have no one to question but me and it was my first install ever . I know exactly what to do but I am no driveline tech... Sucks huge jeep event in 2 weeks need to be by then ... Thoughts ?

Most of the shops around here charge about 350 an axle if you already have the parts. Doing it yourself requires a good selection of tools, gauges n patience.

I just bought superior gears today for just under 700 with a new carrier and master install kits. I know a mobile mechanic that use to work for a jeep 4 x 4 shop and he said he will do mine for 300 per axle

Order all install parts through RWKHaussupply. Email Robert directly and ask for kits/carrier
Go onto Randy's ring and pinion and order USA standard gear sets. Should be about $150/set
Then for install find someone local. Log onto local forums, Craigslist, ask around
I found a guy to do both front and rear for $200
That's the cheapest way I know how to do it. Good luck, gearing axles can be a stressful process

I charge $100 per axle if the gears and install kits are purchased from me.

@ SeriousOffroad, Man I wish you where in Florida! I know what's involved, I had my ring gear in my hand doing my lockers , and I just did a Pinion seal. I know shops are there to make money and book time is book time. But $800 Labor is still hard to swallow....

Motive Gear's warranty is only 6 months, that's why I don't sell them.

If any of you are interested in premium quality Superior gears for your 8.25", hit me up via PM.
