Cut a 24" diameter tree down so that it's laying flat on the ground, start the Jeep, move the Jeep perpendicularly 200 yards from the tree. Aim the Jeep at the tree. Put Jeep in drive and push the accelerator all the way to the floor. Drive straight. Don't push the brakes. The lift will be removed 201 yards later.
^^ this is gold.

I get where you “just buy a stock jeep” guys are coming from, but here in Florida, 3/4 or more of the XJs and ZJs up for sale are lifted. You’re trying to find the right color, right miles, right price, and again and again all your choices have lifts. There are only so many of these left in circulation, and it’s frustrating to keep finding the one that would be perfect except for the damn lift. I am handing my beloved 96 XJ down to my son, and looking for an XJ or ZJ to replace it, and am at the same point as the OP: thinking about buying one with a lift and lowering it. There just aren’t enough stock Jeeps available here.
