Remote Oil Filter
I've always hated where the oil filter is on the 4.0l 6I, and I've snapped off the oil pressure sensor on one occasion. I was thinking about a remote filter with maybe even an oil cooler set-up. This would be on a 1988 Jeep Cherokee. Any suggestions?

Get some fittings & tubing and plumb it up. The odds of you finding enough room in that *****house of an engine compartment are real slim. Chances are you will still dump oil everywhere.
Pro tip:
Tighten the oil filter 1/2 - 2/3 turn after the gasket contacts the filter base. There is no need to have it torqued so tight you destroy everything when trying to remove it.

I ran duel remote filters on my race cars but on those you have plenty of room as there is nothing left under the hood.
I looked at my XJ when I first got it and as Turbo XJ stated no place to put it really because I wanted to keep what I had there. Something would have to give.

Yeah the filter does not need to be on that tight at all.
Nevertheless you can buy kits for a remote filter setup. NAPA and RockAuto carry them I believe. 3/4"-16 is the Post-Renix size. I've thought about doing it myself just to make the filter easier to reach, it's a bit of a stretch when lifted. If you want to do it, do it! I've always thought an oil/water heat exhanger would be sweet too, plumbed in with the heater core might work well. But I have no idea if the stock pump can handle that.

I've been thinking about doing this also. I'm sure I can find room with the right bracket. Only problem is, I can't find a kit specifically for the 6I. Anybody know of one? Otherwise I'd have to piece something together.
