Relay Wiring for Hella 500 lights
Afternoon,
I got a steal of a deal on a Westin brush guard for my 98 cherokee. In great shape and came with 2 Hella 500 lights (stated they worked before removed.) but guard was well worth the price alone.
What kind of wiring harness do I need for this install? I tried to search but most people use the included kits for obvious reasons.
I found this on ebay, will that work? Or what do I need?
Thanks,

I would imagine that kit would work if the relays run to 330 watts. I have 4 KC's on my roof and we wired it to an auxillary source in the dash (cigaratte lighter) so it would only work with the key turned. Good luck!

that kit is simply a standard relay and some bundles of wire. its better to do some research and build the harness yourself, and you get to choose from many different switches available at your local auto parts. good luck man!!

Use a switch you like. Piece together your own harness. My Hella 500's I used to have were great lights. The factory harness they give you was laughable. I had to buy another relay because the 'made in Mexico' Hella relay that came in the kit did not work. Here is a wiring scematic.
Or you could wire them this way. I prefer to control the ground side of the circuit so there is less chance of a short circuit and only a negative wire needs to go through the firewall. If the switch circuit shorts to ground in this set up the only thing that happens id the lights come on. No melted wires, fires or blown fuses. (Please excuse the poor picture editting).

If the gauge of wire running from the positive on the battery and the amp rating of the relay you could just add another light to the diagram above. Or to play it safe run another positive wire from the battery and use another relay. The same switch will be used in the case as well
Very helpful posts! I'm not into working with electricity that often.
I have done plenty of car stereo's in my time and thousands of home electronics. I have never ran something hot to the fuse box, is it fairly simple once I open it up on how to run something into it? Just curious,
