Th ring gear is only fatter on the mounting size, not on the mesh side.

And its only fatter to make up the distance needed to us the original carrier past its gearing break

I already addressed the difference. Nothing to do with the pinion. The ring gear is "thick" because the different offset of the carrier. The ring gear mounting surface of the carrier has a different offset between the ratio breaks. So a "thick" ring gear is to compensate the offset of the carrier. The edge of the ring gear tooth in theory will sit in the exact same position as it would if it were a standard ring gear. Also meaning that the pinion is the same.

So these gears won't work because the pinion is too small? I wouldn't think that 2 teeth would make the pinion that much smaller, but maybe it does.
