Regearing to 4.56 on 4.5' with 33's
Hey guys looking to re gear my 8.25 to 4.56
I have a 4.5 on 33's so I figure that needs to change.
Any suggestions on which to get and/or where to get, if someone through the forum may know someone. . .?
Also could I get away with just the back axle for now? Obviously not using 4wd. . .
Thanks all!

Also would a locker eliminate the need to re-gear?
I plan to add an auto locker eventually. . . Or maybe sooner if the case is such.

I'm assuming you have an aw4 (I'm on the app, no sigs/info) and with your 33s you're not happy with the drivability on stock 3.55 gears. 4.56s will be a good option if you plan to stay on 33s. A locker alone will not help with gearing if that's what your asking. You may want to consider locking at the same time as regearing to save install cost/time. I don't know what you do with your xj but I would wait to regear both axles because I don't see the of having a (lifted) jeep that can't be put in 4x4.
As to where to buy look in the vendor section. I was going to get my gears from serious Offroad but superior was being dumb so I ended up getting Yukon go the rear and USA standard from the front from seven springs customs. Rumor is the cheap eBay gears are low quality and noisey.

Its a DD but I'm out here in CO and want it to be fairy capable. I may just wait for both but really feel weak with the 3.55 and feel its hard on the tranny

check out my build. I'm putting together a 4.5" on 33's and 4.56's right now. maybe it'll give you some ideas
I've decided to do it all at once. lockers and gears. that way I only ever need to open the diff once. less hassle in the future but it costs more now

Serious Offroad, RWKHausSupply and JeepHut are vendors here that sell em. I'm sure there are others but thats what i can think of off the top of my head. Search google, search here, figure out what would suit your needs best

your front axle is a high pinion dana 30 reverse cut. all the links I gave you included everything you need to get 4.56 gears
if you can get his 8.25 for $250 then you're golden. and also ready for some lockers
