4.56's with true 33's should tach at 2600ish at 65MPH, 4.10's would be about 200 rpms lower. I have 3.55's with 33" MT/R's and get maybe 12-15MPG. I can never find a gear over 55, it'll shift into OD and drop to 1800-2000 then down shift and hit 2900. Who wants to drive 55??

No, 4.56s with true 33s and an AW4 automatic transmission will be turning 2263 rpms at 65 mph if the transmission is working correctly.

Yes really... Difference in 5 speed or automatic... Engine matters... 4.0 or 2.5... Heck even the transfercase matters... Thats why none of these chart on the net are worth a damn... Everyone is different... Lift hight matters... Cammed or not matters... Horsepower matters... Torque converter matters...

If u wanted to do it absolutely right... Most people do what a chart says and notice a difference and like it... When they could have done even better...

If you're talking about how much power will be put down then yes you're right. BUT the sensor picks up it's signal at the tailhousing of the t-case. So no, different trannies and cases don't affect that gear. It works for 1-5 gears in high and low range.

Well the conversation took a turn towards speedo calibration, so I'm talking about the speedo sensor.

Ah... Didnt read all the pages... First post and last page... If u gear it right to the tire size and get it back to the oem speed setting I think thats prime anyways... According to all jeep emgineers anyways for prime fuel mileage and performance all around...

Forgot to mention that I've installed the 40 tooth speedo gear as listed on Quadratec's and 4WheelParts websites. Compared it to Garmin GPS unit and found mph readings are spot on.

OK, if your speedometer is correct, you should be turning lower rpms than the 2800 - 2900 you stated.

70mph x 4.56 differential gears x 336 x .79 AX15 OD ratio / 32 inch tire height = 2647.76 rpms at 70 mph

My numbers are correct, check them on this site, http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html

If you were driving 75 your rpms would be 2837.

I don't doubt the math. Just gotta figure out what variable is causing the rpm's to be so high. Will update when I find something.

Maybe your torque converter isn't locking. Next time you drive it in OD press the brake a little with your left foot as you are on the gas. I'f your RPMs jump, then its fine. If it doesn't, then there's your problem!

Mojave, is running a AX15, so he doesn't have a torque converter.
