Rear tire carrier bumper
I'm thinking about getting a rear tire carrier bumper.
1. Are all years' bumpers the same?
2. For those with tire carrier bumpers: has anyone stolen your spare, or have you had dry rot on your spare?
3. Is it a pain in the *** to back up with the tire basically covering the back window?

For the most part, all aftermarket rear bumpers will fit any Cherokee. There are exceptions though, there are sooooo many different style bumpers out there that it's hard to say. Also pretty much all rear tire carriers have some sort of locking mechanism. And as far as visibility, I've seen some made off center, where the tire sits a little to the right making it a little easier. Obviously it'll block a lot of view at the center, also considering what size tire you'll be putting up there. This is one thing you really gotta shop around for to find the right one for you

x2.. most aftermarket companies make the bumpers too fit any year.. unless otherwise specified... your best n cheapest bet for doing a rear bumper with tire carrier is getting an after market rear bumper with a receiver hitch and getting the new detours rear tire carrier that mounts too the hitch. i ran a modified stock rear xj tire carrier back when i had 31s and had no issues with tire covering the rear window.
