Question Rear tire carrier + 35" skinny tire?

Hello all,

Can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I plan on going with a rear tire carrier bumper for my XJ. I was wondering if there is a such thing as a skinny 35" tire like a 35x10.5x15 and if there are any repercussions to running such a thing. I'd like my spare to be as low-profile to the rear hatch as possible.

I want to be able to use this old wheel I have from my old Exploder:

Aside from the spare fitting right on the jeep itself w/ that backspacing, I'd love to see some pics of what ya'll are running as far as 35's and rear tire carrier. Or if there is a thread for this that I cant find.

Thanks!

So would this be an acceptable spare for a rig running 35's? I've read some things about diameter and driveline trouble with a different sized spare. Particularly with lockers.

Thanks guys

Space the wheel off the carrier if needed, and use a full size spare. Mine doesn't even need spacers, and the rear wiper still functions perfectly with the tire mounted (35x12.50x15). And my bumper/carrier/body armor is one of those "you weld it up" kits. Not sure which one.

For a tire to just get you home yes, it would be fine as a spare. However for something you might have to take to work for a week it wouldn't be ideal. However I ran a 28 inch tire that was my spare with my 31's for almost a month last winter and didnt have any issues. Probably put a few hundred miles on it that way. I think you'll be okay. I'm going to be running 34x10.5 tsl's this spring and using a 33x12 spare that my buddy has laying around.

So that rear there in this picture is a full 35? Wow, that actually looks lower-profile than I expected. Thanks! I guess license plate relocation then is necessary of course
