rear sway bar bushing problem
I don't know if anyone's encountered this, but i went to replace my driver's side rear sway bushing (cracked off0, and now can't get the geometry right to reinstall the new bushings. Seems like I've got about 1/2" on left and 3/4s on the right side. The angle's wrong on the right side (up and forward). Thought about getting a new bar since you can't torch and bend them. Am I missing some trick, or is there a tip on this install? 3' blocks shouldn't change the geometry, I would think. The former owner had welded a piece of flat stock on the left side (which cracked-duh) to make the connection.Suppose I could run it without the sway, but it's the wife's daily driver, so I'm reluctant to leave it off. I've heard of guys doing this to get more articulation, but with 31 tires and a 3" lift, it doesn't seem an issue.

Agreed the damn things are so small in diameter that they really don't do much. Unbolt the whole thing snake it (it can be done with out jacking the XJ up or removing anything else) out and toss it in the scrap pile. I did mine on my back in the garage in about 10 minutes.

In all seriousness though if you decide to leave it off be careful for a while to see how it's going to handle. MOST have no problems or don't even know there gone. BUT then we never did find out what was going on here:
