Default Rear stinger tire carrier?

Is any one running a rear stinger tire carrier like this? I am thinking about building one any ideas?

That particular design looks like it would punch the tire through the rear window...

You wont find one cause it would make the hatch useless . You'll have to lower the stinger onto the ground and step over the tire to get into the hatch.

I am considering making a custom tire carrier for my XJ after I get rear 1/4 panel armor and putting 2 mounts on each side and using heim's as a hinge with some Tube that wraps around the hatch and connects on the sides so you can pull some pins and have it swing open to the left or right.

I want to do something like the picture below, But on an XJ

I had one on my K5 and it was a pain in the a$$!! Like Tom said, every time I had to get in the back I had to drop the tire down and that got old real quick!

My buddy is building me one similar to this, but it's just a normal swing out. Primarily to protect the bead in some situations

I plan on doing one in a few weeks. The plan, like stated above is to install quarter guards and have mounts welded to those and attached to the bumper. We've got to work out the design, but I'll post up here as things progress.
