although the rear axle looks centered, the right tire sticks out at least half inch farther then the right. any ideas? opinions? comments? sarcasm?
As said, could be worn out leaf springs/shackle bushings. Obviously there is no track bar in the rear of the XJ, so there's no adjustment there.
We could point out the obvious. Are the leafs centered on the perches? Are you running any lift? If so, blocks? Are the blocks centered?
Also as said, 1/2" isn't really bad but I'm the same way. I would measure it and it would bother me until it's perfect.

I agree. 1/2" isn't much to worry about.
If I understand you correctly, what you're referring to is known as the Thrust Angle. You can view this on your alignment print outs. I've never seen a cherokee with a perfect thrust angle. They're all off a little for whatever reason. Definitely common with lifted XJs. Grand Cherokees and Wranglers are able to dial this in with adjustable rear track bars.

ill have get under there tomorrow and check it all out. actually the tire looks like its sticking out about 3/4 or more. it has at least a 6 inch lift on it, with shackles and angled wedge blocks under the springs.
