Is anyone using the new RC control arm drop kit. If so how do you like it. Is there an improvement in the ride? I have a DD with about 4.5"s of lift that hits pretty hard in the front. Any comments? Thanks

a lot of people are using the drop kit. I have it and am happy with it. No problems so far. I did not drive without it so I can not say anything for improvement.

It's OK, better than short arms. I had a problem with the self tapping screws that hold the braces working their way out of the unit body (my suspension is very soft and flexy) but I just welded them to my unit body when I plated it and now it's fine. Even when they were loose I didn't notice it. I gained a good bit of droop when I put them on.

Big inprovement. I had it on my xj and same thing. had 4.5 then got a job in the city and it drove me nuts, got that kit, and it was great. Definitely worth it.

If you get them and your a rock crawler, everyone will be at you. For DD and mudding they work awesome. But the key for them is to have adjustable control arms. I just did this to mine and its almost like that new car feeling when you first drive it off the lot.

Do you need to change to adj. arms or will I notice a difference with just the drop Kit?

In your first post you state that you have 4.5" lift. In your profile you have 3.5". When you drop your control arm mounting points and use the same control arms that you have now. Your castor is going to be off (negative) I think. Your coils will bow towards the front of your jeep and it will be difficult to get your front end alined. Wont steer very well at all. When I put mine one without adjustables, I was like, WTF! And then when I put the adjustables on it was like, BACON!!!

I know RC has a complete kit with support brackets for around $185 Rubicon has them for more than $100 more with separate support brackets. Also Rubicon is closed for I don't know how long..

Your right. I have an RE3.5" kit that gave me 4.5" to 5" of lift and hasn't settled in almost 8 months. When I jack up the front the bump stops and there mounts get squashed by the front of the springs. They bow toward the rear of the jeep now. I had to remove the bump stops completely. Thanks

You need a minimum of 4.5" to run these. Those springs will settle. I ran their 4.5" springs for about 3 years and they were around 5.5" the first 6 months and barely 4 when I took them out. Mine isn't a daily driver and is wheeled pretty hard which breaks them in a bit faster.

I'm running 3 1/2 springs with 2" spacers. I didn't like the ride with the taller springs
