My Xj is about 7in in the rear with a shackle and bastard pack. Stock driveshaft and no vibes,1in TC drop. Ive had this thing tweeked up really good too and its been put to the test for almost two years now. Driveshaft slipyoke had plenty of engagement. I recently swapped in an 8.8 and i had to actually stretch the wheel base a bit back bc the stock shaft was too long. aw4 ,242,

hm, I just installed a 6.5" RC lift(it turned out to be a 7.5" lift with a 1" block in the rear and a 1" coil spacer in front)...I didnt have to do anything like that, my t-case already had spacers and everything fit nicely so we didnt touch it...no vibration either.

My driveshaft started rattling very loud at 35mph at 5inches and no tcase drop. Until than I had no SYE not tcase drop but was only at 4in. I got the IRO hack n tap SYE with a front driveshaft for $210 shipped and it fixed the problem. Its good for lifts up to 8 inches, and I also have a 231 tcase and 8.25 rear. You will also need shims. You might get away with shims and tcase drop but probably not going to be 100% smooth.

Well if you ever wheel it there is a pretty good chance that your driveshaft will slip off the yoke. Or worse you ruin your T-case output shaft. I picked up a 100$ HNT with a 50$ JY front shaft. I rebuilt the front shaft(recommended) and dont have to worry about a thing.

Yep, very stupid. The closest JY to me is an hour away. I need to waste time on driving, gas money and time at the JY and then buy ujoints to replace into the old driveshaft. After all that you are basically penny pinching.

^this. New center ball=40$ 3 u joints=75$ cost of old shaft=50$. 100$ is just dumb I guess.
No problem man, Its easy to see that everyone has different experiences. I say lift it and see where its at, even if you dont need an SYE its one less thing to worry about when wheelin and if you run the stock from shaft that means you only one need Shaft as a trail spare. Good luck.

You can get away with just the t case drop and will have no vibes or feel it at all. You can even try it with no drop or sye. But your best option is the sye and new drive shaft.

Thats why its not stupid to pay 100 for a refurb. Not everyone lives in Colorado next to a junkyard. Plus if you refurb that $20 DS you end up spending $100 anyways.
