Default Quick locker questions

So my 90 has a aussie up front. I didn't not install this unit it was in place when I got this jeep. But it has always made noise while turning and it's gettingn worse now. It's a loud clunk on turns. More so to the left than right. But it's doing it both ways now. My wheel bearings are tight but could be replaced and will be when I have the time and money to do so as will the u joints. But I removed the front drive shaft and the noise is gone. My question is any guesses at the culprit and two is it ok to run the front axle with a locker and no drive shaft ? I'm assuming it is as the front axle freewheels and spins the drive shaft normally I'm just taking the shaft out the picture.

i have ran without a front ds for months with my spartan with no problems. I've had the symptoms u had and replaced literally everything and it ended up being my driveshaft spring thing was gone and ds slightly bent. more than likely ur problem is either the shaft or something with the pinion or the yoke because the sound went away when the ds came out.

Try checking out the drive shaft u joints. My does the same thing as yours and my u joint on front drive shaft is loose. Got an aussie locker up front as well.

My drive shaft u joints are tight I just checked them. My front u joint on my rear drive shaft went out a few months ago and was making a squeel so I checked all the u joints. I haven't checked my axle u joints. But there's no rust around the caps and no grease fittings on them. But they will be replaced when I do my unit bearings in the next few months
