quick gear question
lookng to put 35's on my xj
i have a 5speed and 307 gears right now. i know the 307 will not cut the mustard. would 410's be decent for a slow rolling speed in the snow? or do i need to go even lower on the gear ratio 456? other possible option is i use my 410 axles and go to a lower tcase low gear if thats a option in these units

if i still ned to go lower i could afford 456 gears this summer.
i plan to be runnign a toyota disel come spring and i am going to replace the t-case low range gears to 4.70:1 for my low range. if the 4.0 & drive train will get me by for this winter super. i can toss all the old stuff at the dump after the swap.

its better if u go 4.56 with 35s and a manual tranny, it would be like 4.88 with an automatic, which is better if ur running 35s

I would set the diffs up to be close to stock for 2H + 4H situations, and then have a 4.7-1 T/case for crawling. Most Toyota guys i run with have 35's with 5.29's and a dual transfer case with 2.8-1 in the first box and 4.7-1 in the back box. they literally crawl over almost anything.
But they have the 22re. the diesel is a different beast. lower rpm is needed, I would run 4.56's as that should put it in the diesels ideal operating rpm...
