Scary unstable highway driving. 6.5" RC 35s PLEASE HELP
Okay so i have been fighting this problem for a while and I cant figure it out. the truck has 35" MTZ, 6.5" Rough country long arms, 488s and JCR 1 ton steering Under the knuckle. Also bilstein 5150s in front to add
At first the jeep was pulling to the left when braking. I changed calipers and brakes yada yada. I adjusted the steering some and it seemed to stop the pulling when braking. Now the truck drives pretty decent for a 6.5" lift and 35s up to about 40 mph. Once its on the highway the steering feels sensitive, if i hit a bump it feels like i am about to bounce of the road. It pulls a bit to the right on the highway and i have to be ready for everything.
I am using Rough country's Trac bar drop and trac bar as well as there drop pitman arm. I dont know if this would create bad steering angles with the 1 ton steering but its UTK and not OTK. I used to have 3.5" lift with stock steering, stock gears, 33s and that setup was a 100 times better than this.
So ive tripple checked the toe in with 2 different tape measures lol and the measurement is the same on both sides. The kit requires 15 1/4 of length for upper arms. I made them about 15" to add more caster. Didnt help. I checked the distance between the front and rear tires on both sides and just about even. Trac bar distances from wheel to frame wheel to frame just about even (when i say just about even i mean maybe 1/16" off)
I replaced 3 out of 4 of the tie rods in the steering, (4th one seems good). Had to add a washer to the pitman arm to bring it up higher, and steering box bolts are tight. Also replaced one hub bearing with a known good spare, the other seems good but will put on the other good known spare soon. (from old front axle) Balljoints seem tight as well.
I dont know what else to check Everything has less than 1000 miles on it. I know this is a long post but ive tried just about everything please HELP!!!!
-Thanks
Mike

post a picture of your steering angles.
I run 7.25" lift on mine and have had no problems and mine gets driven on the highway daily...
sounds like bar steering angles/alignment.
I would get a professional alignment.

changing your upper control arm lengths to the lenghts that you did will add WAY TO MUCH caster cuaseing all your issues you are talking about. your upper arms should be between 15 1/4 - 15 3/4 or mabye even more it all really depends on your truck and i would recomend taking your truck in to get a professinal alginment becuase no offense but it seems like you dont really know what your doing IMHO

Over 40 mph no wobbling, no death wobble. Adjusting the arms tighter added better caster yet worse pinion. I have heard that you want as much caster as you can before your front shaft starts to vibrate. Adding the caster helped the steering wheel recenter after turns and did help a little bit. My pinion is now lower and looked as if yours did (96_xj) before the adjustment
Here are pictures of the steering angles
Quality is a little crap but not bad

this could be your problem.
yes more caster will help steering wheel return but you really want like 7 - 7.5 degrees of caster. your track bar almost looks like its too long as well
