Quick Amp placement question
Wanted to mount my amps under my rear seats but they are too big so I'm thinking the back of the rear seat... But, isnt the back frame of the rear seat of a 00 xj made out of metal? Will this affect anything? Short it out? Anyone have any experience with this? Any help will be appreciated.

Mounting an amplifier to metal would be the preferred method. You can't short anything out mounting the chassis of the amp to metal.

Be aware that amps need air circulation to stay cool. Under the seat may not give you enough air movement. Some have fans built in or you can get one of these. If not, they can overheat and go into protection mode.

Agreed with the dangers of overheating amp with under seat location! As for the seat back, if you want to mount the amps with spacers/washers stacked under the screws/bolts that wont hurt. Good for hiding wires if your concerned about appearance.

under the back seat is great thats where mounted my amp but as stated your amp(s) better have fans....
Im running a Genesis Profile 5, its a 5 channel amp thats super thin with a built in fan.

Thanks for the responses guys. I ended up mounting both amps to the back of the seat and running all new speaker wires to each speaker. I didn't trust stock speaker wire with all that wattage running through it. It was a pain in the *** but worth it I believe.
