Default quick 6.5in lift question

okay so im about to buy the rough country 6.5in x-series kit. i was just wondering if (i know ill need longer shocks) but im wondering if i just swap out the 6.5in coils for some 8.5in coils if the adjustable control arms will be long enough that come with it? ive looked a little bit on here about it aand didnt find out much. but my plan is going to be a xj with 8.5ish inch lift..8.5coils in front with 6.5in leafes in back with 2in shackles. but im really just concerned with the control arms, any help will be appreciated!

Don't know why you need to go that high but if it's absolutely necessary, you need long arms. Or you're not going to have a good time

The ride will probably be rough at 6.5 with the short arms. It was for me. But I also had a 6.5 pack on stock shackles. Going to long arms was a much needed upgrade, and I've since addressed the rear end.

And yeah, 8.5 is a bit much..

Yeah his ride is probably already rough at 6.5" and short arms. Going to 8.5" on short arms would be absolute hell. And I bet your adjustables wont even work for it. I couldnt tell you for sure though.

My angle was quite steep at 6.5. I can only imagine 8.5. I mean I guess maybe drop brackets in case you can't go to long arms right now? I almost used them at 6.5, so it's a possibility..

the reason i want a 8.5in is because im gonna throw some 37s or 38.5 boggers under there. its gonna be strictly a mud bogger. but i really was hoping i wouldnt have to buy long arms...thatll take another months worth of paychecks.

You may be able to get away with Drop Brackets if you go up 2 more inches

But you might as well email Rough Country and ask them if they think the control arms would work without the drop brackets. Like I said though, I doubt they will

Im running the same kit and the control arm drop brackets. The control arms were not extended out far and i also have a 1.75 spacer on front to even it out with the rear.

The drop brackets make a huge difference on the angles of the arms which is a better ride.
