Questions: Hayden 3647 for Cooling fan
I'm glad to hear there's a solution to this heat soak problem multiple people are having with their Jeep. So I read you can buy this Hayden kit, (which has an adjustable thermostat for electric fan control) and it allows your e-fan to stay on to a certain temperature when the key is off. I have a few questions for the people who have DONE this mod or anyone who cares to share.
So the fans going to stay on for a few minutes after vehicle is off... Will it reduce battery life quicker?
I read you cut an e-fan wire and run a wire from the kit to the fan. I was wondering if the fan is only going to come on now to the set temperature on the kit and not through the PCM and coolant temperature sensor anymore?
Anybody have a link to an install on an actual XJ?
I'm assuming just follow instructions but a source for it going on the actual vehicle is always best I think.
I'm sure I have tons more but I'm just looking for some help from someone that has more knowledge with it than I do.

I just installed a timer on my '00 XJ electric fan. I have it set for 4 minutes. I have a push button activation switch (momentary). One push of the button activates the e-fan. The timer is adjustable from 1-60 seconds, and 1-60 minutes. The timer board was $37.00 shipped, and with the rest of the parts I think I spent about $60-$70 dollars total. My plan is to use the timer after i turn the vehicle off, not really for when it's running. I did turn it on while it was running and it did fine, came on for the 4 minutes and no check engine light.

I got the timer from J-mac supply online. You also need a relay (found at rat shack or auto parts store), an inline fuse, and a momentary switch, 12 gauge wire, 18 gauge wire, and connectors to put it together. It's not as hard to wire it as it looks. I have to give credit to the guys at cherokeetalk forum for the circuit design.
Yes the e-fan will come on like normal. It's wired in to the fan on the hot side.
