Putting a lift on it will definitely add strain to some parts of the driveline. For example, if it's lifted, there will be more stress on your motor mounts and tranny mount. You will only "burn through parts" if you really beat the heck out of it. I'm in the same boat as you, I need mine for every day use but I want it to be offroad capable when I want to have some fun . So I say go against the old man's word and do it!

And as said above, that kit comes with basically everything you will need except shocks and an SYE and driveshaft (although you could probably get away with a t-case drop for a bit until you can afford an SYE and driveshaft, seeing as how 4.5 inches isn't TOO high). Just be prepared for the ride to be not as smooth as you go up.

Just like pringles, once you start you just cant stop.... it's an endless, vicious, expensive cycle... in the end it's still worth it

I agree! Ever since I got my XJ back in September, all my paychecks either go to gas, fixing my baby, or upgrading my baby. My other baby, the girlfriend, is starting to get jealous and upset after all these months haha

i had the same lift in my jeep be rubicon express restructured and it was a great lift but dont know if the quality is still there...besides shocks and sye you will need to get extended brake lines, drop pitman arm and extra bushings as theirs are garbage and will wear out in a year...as stated by someone else you would be able to getaway with using a t-case drop (which i happen to have, pm me if interested)
