Default Procharger

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum. I bring greetings from the Comanche Club. Anyways, Are there any threads on procharging a 4.0? I'm about to start rebuilding a H.O. 4.0 and I'm considering all my options from stroking it to a turbo set up. I want a unique jeep, and I think procharging would be quite unique. Thanks

Thanks for the reply, I think I may try a centrifugal supercharger. It would most likely take less room in the engine bay. Maybe with a AC compressor delete I could put it right where the compressor was?

I don't see why you couldn't. You'll need to figure out something for electronics as well.

Maybe a piggy back on the stock system?

prochargers are pretty easy to work with if your handy. I have one on my mustang and besides getting it lined up with a belt to drive it, the plumbing for it isn't bad at all. good luck and I want to see tons of pictures on this

There's a guy and his father on here, they have a supercharged 4.0, they may be able to shed some light on the electronics side.

From what I've read, it needs a piggyback system and maybe a 7th injector to get the right amount of fuel in there under boost.

The father son jeep is running a sprintex system. I've been very interested in this system for a while but want an easy "plug n play" fuel system. Sprintex does come with a pnp ecu that runs a 7th injector like stated, but I haven't been able to find concrete info on how reliable this is long term. I'm also worried about offloading this system in case water damages the pnp ecu and I lean my engine out to the point of damaging it.. Here is a link to the sprintex kit through a us supplier. If anyone has better info on it I'd love to hear it!

That's their build thread.

Send em a PM. They always seem happy to talk about it. Lol

From reading about it, only issue was keeping the air temps down, they added a meth injection I guess. Don't know all the details. But I know they've been running it a while.

First I have to handle the money issue, working part time, saving up for college and maintaining jeeps can make the funds a little tight. But I'll definitely start a build thread if I decide to do it!

The SC 4.0 is cool as hell, but why not go LS swap? It would be cheaper, more reliable, more power (or potential for), better fuel milage, and probably easier in the long run. I plan to go this route when my 4.0 finally dies.

I just want something unique. I love the v8 swapped Cherokees but I think it would be cool to have an engine not known for huge horsepower putting out atleast 275 or so to the wheels. Plus with the supercharger you would still have the low end stump pulling power of the 4.0

Point taken. I was looking at it from the practical economic aspect.
