So this morning I turn on le XJ and the speedometer was dead, basically all the gauges..but then I turned the turn switches on and then they sprung to life. I'm guessing it's a wiring problem. anyone know how to fix it?

This happened to me (minus the coming back on using a turn signal), mine was a bad fuse in the engine bay fuse box. Not sure why they would come back on unless you have a bad ground that made contact when the stalk was moved.

Which fuse was it specifically? And yeah it's wierd, it happened again today and I tried fixing it with the turn signal again but no luck, so I turned off the jeep and started it back up and like a minute just waiting an messing around with the dash it came on again. It probabally is a fuse

I lose tach and speedo occasionally. It is the connector in the IP, there is a procedure for cleaning corrosion off it. When it happen again, gently push in on the IP and see it that brings things back on.
