Default Problem with AA SYE install....

Hey guys.

I'm installing my AA SYE right now, and I noticed I need to remove the front DS in order to pull the rear output shaft out...

I already have the TCase split in half, and I really really don't want to have to lower the support crossmember (that's what it is, right?) to get to the front DS yoke.

Is there a way to remove the output shaft / chain with the front DS still attached? Or is there a way to remove the front DS and yoke without removing the TCase crossmember?

I just know those four bolts holding the crossmember are going to strip / shear with how rusty they are

It can be done without removing the crossmember?

Everything about this project has been a cake walk (except those stupid lock and snap rings) while it is still attached to the Jeep -- actually easier to me because it is held in place while you work. I don't mind working on my back

Yeah I get how to do it I'm just wondering if there's a way to do it with the front DS still in because it's going to be a huge pain to remove (stuck cross member bolts)

All you gotta do is take the front ds out or at least off the transfer case and tie it up out if your way. Take an impact (preferred) with and extension on it and you can get right to the nut on the yoke. If you don't have an impact then a normal ratchet will work in the same way. I just did mine about two months ago and refused to take out the transfer case, everything went in fine. You may have to wedge a piece if wood between the yoke and the frame to hold it in place.

That's what I did with the front yoke. Realized it after I took the back half off.

OK right on. I was worried about using an extension and putting tons of torque on the bolt that I would shear it or round it off but I'll give that a shot today or tomorrow. Thanks
