Default Powertrax no-slip install question

I just got my no-slip locker for my 8.25. I’m reading through the instructions before I get started on the install and I noticed that it calls for one side to have slots for the c-clips and one side that’s not slotted. Mine has slots for both sides. Anyone notice this? Will it still work? If no one can confirm or deny that this is normal, I’ll call powertrax on Monday but I’d like to get started sooner.

Yes, it will still work....the slots are on both sides because you have c-clips on both sides....

At least that's how it was on the lock right in my 88 & 79 vehicles, and the spartan on my 96

.

If you're talking about the c clip slits, you have 2 c clips, therefore 2 slots.

You could put it together with only one slot, but believe me having two slots is much easier to deal with

When you put it together, make sure the c clips fit in without catching so they're not impossible to get back out later. I ended up filing mine down a tiny bit on the top and bottom.

So, my c clips slide right in, no friction. However, I already need to pull the axles because I’m installing liberty disk brakes and when I put it together I realized the wheel studs are too short. So what’s the trick to get the c clips to drop out? There’s no way to grab them and they just won’t fall out. My magnet stick is too fat. Got any tricks?

Please. There must be a way to get these c clips out. They are loose in there, I just can’t get hold of them or get them to fall out. I’m stuck and I haven’t even gotten to use it. My Jeep is stuck in my garage too. I’m so frustrated. I wish I’d just bought the full case lsd instead.

Edit:
Well, from searching around, it sounds like a lot of brake cleaner and a dead blow is the trick. I'll wrestle it more tonight after the kids are down.

To get those clips out, you need to pull the cross pin out of the carrier, then push the axle in a little and they should come out easily

Yep, what ^^^^^ he said. You got to push the axles back in a bit and they will fall out.

Fall out my ***. This is the worst product I’ve ever bought to improve my Jeep. I got the passenger side c clip out but I can’t get the driver side one out. It seems like the passenger side of the locker should come out but it won’t. I hate this thing so much. I can’t stand the idea of it being this hard to pull my axles.

I finally got it out! That was too hard, especially since I haven’t even used it. I literally put it in and had to take it out. I might put it back in but I’m seriously thinking about putting it up for sale and getting a full case. I was trying to get the nicest piece without spending an arm and a leg. I’d lie to have a trutrac or the powertrax version but it costs a lot more. However, I’d like to know that I can pull my axles if I need to in less than 8 or ten hours.

for anyone who’s looking for how this went, using a lot of carb cleaner in the passenger c clip area and wriggling and wrestling it with the slot pointing down and after a while it drops right out. Then while attempting the same thing on the driver side, I felt the axle slide out as far as it could. Then with some more wrestling, I finally worked the passenger side of the locker out. Then you can get to the driver side c clip without going through the slot.

Well, I used a magnet to get mine out on the jeeps, and a pick with a 90 deg bend on my old dodge truck....., came out easy as pie.

it does help if you pull the center pin and the locker locating pins and remove the center pieces of the locker...........

I haven't used them on a c-clip axle, but I believe even with a full case or true trac....you still have to deal with c-clips if it is a c-clip axle.

If you don't pull the springs out of the locker first the passenger side C clip is going to be hard to get out, the driver side is easy to get in and out.
