I found some nice power cloth seats in an '01 Grand Cherokee. I have a '98 XJ w/manual seats. What do I need to do to swap seats, just swap bases? I don't need the power option. I also found some power seats in a'93 Grand Cherokee. Are they any easier to install? Sorry, I did some research but didn't really find what I was looking for.
Thanks for the help.

You might have to do some finagling to get them to fit. '93-'98 Grand Cherokee seats should bolt right in without having to re-tap the holes in the floor pan. You'll have to find a + 12V power source to tap into, such as the cigarette lighter. You'll have to run the wiring as well, as there's no pre-wiring from the factory for power seats. I'd grab the switches and wiring from the donor vehicle's seats, so you have to provide less of your own wiring.

I put WJ leather seats in my XJ, they bolted right up to the manual XJ seat sliders IIRC
I have not yet wired up the seat for power, before I removed them I hooked up a battery to the WJ at the junkyard and moved the back rests and lumbar to where I wanted to. Still haven't gotten around to working them up a year or so later

I have 97 ZJ seats in mine. I initially installed them w/ power bases, they were too tall. I am 6' 1" and it put my head into the headliner. I switched to manual bases and they were much better height. Bouncing through the trails I do not hit my head on the headliner. Very comfy.

ZJ seats offer more support, sometimes the WJ seats can be too "cushy". I know because I've owned a ZJ and a WJ, the ZJ with leather and the WJ with cloth.
Is there a way of doing this swap and retaining the manual sliding of the seats? Is it as simple as using the XJ seat mount and track bolted to the WJ or ZJ seat? I don't want power seats but wouldn't mind the comfort.

Yes. This is exactly what I did with WJ power leather seats. Unbolt them from the WJ tracks and bolt them to your manual XJ tracks.

Thanks for the input everyone. They want $50 per seat. Is that fair? They're in really nice shape. Maybe I can get them for less if I get just the seats and leave all the power stuff in the WJ.
