Obviously I washed my XJ, twice. Its still muddy. haha. I decided to get under and grease all the points I know as well. I was kinda surprised how much water came out of the rubber boots.
Just curious what yall do for maintenance after you go off road, in water, mud, etc.
Go to a car wash and spend about $5 to blast most of the crap off the undercarriage. All around the coil springs, spindles, leaf spring attachment points, inside the bumpers, and everywhere else. Then wash the body down at home by hand.
Minus the hand washing that is also my routine all winter long. Every 2 or 3 weeks I do the same thing at a car wash to get all the road salt and crud off. I could do it at home but I'd rather not mess with a frozen water hose when I can use hot water at a car wash. If it hasnt snowed and they haven't salted the roads I dont worry about it. But I absolutely do not let that stuff sit and eat my jeep all winter

Inspect frame around steering box isn't cracked.
put a wrench on leaf spring bolts at the frame. Ive had one come loose. Grab drivelines looking for excisioexcisive play.. check diff, transfercase and trans fluids aswell as motor steering breaks coolant. Clean filter.
most important for me and all my jeeps, is the frame. since where i wheel, there's a lot of mud/muddy water, so i will stick the wand tip in all the frame holes, and blast all the dirt and crap out with high pressured water. then take a can of fluid film, and spray the crap out of the inside of the frame rails, starting at the highest point.
also, just blasting the body with soapy water doesn't cut it. you will have to use the scrub brush setting, and hope they use a good soap, and scrub every square inch of the body.
check underside for any branches that you may have picked up along the way.
I ended up buying a pressure washer because we are always out in the desert with the 79 300.
Do that, but about twice a year I use rustolium black paint under the whole truck. I just coated my xj since I just got it.
Bar oil is also awesome for the frame. Either way, keep them coated with something.
