If your worried about the no sway bar rig killing someone, go sit in the corner and worry that a meteor is going to hit you in the head....
I took mine off as soon as i put 31s on mine. If your that worried about it find some shocks with stiffer rebound valving this will help with body roll.

DON'T DO IT!!!
I decided to pull my sway bar to see what it would be like. When I was done, I went inside to take a ****. Came back out, and my xj was upside down in my driveway :scared:

I've had my front one disconnectable (if that's a word) for a couple yrs now on my stock suspensioned '96 XJ. Rear one's been history for yrs. But my suspension is in good shape and I've got KYB MonoMax shocks (around 300psi). My wife drives it more than I do through the winter and has never had an issue. That being said I'll never tow heavy loads (ex:trailer load of firewood or a couple ATVs) with it not connected. Did once and never again.

It's kind of hilarious how people like to express there opinion.
And here's mine in a mature fashion.
It's all about your personal preference. Take it off see how you like it. That's it. If you use your XJ for daily driver on freeways and/or at freeway speeds I would not suggest removing. If something happens on the freeway that you need to make a quick maneuver a roll over is possible. Much more possible then if you had the sway bar connected, and more possible then a meteor hitting you in the head.
I have mine connected. I removed it before. Just not a fan of all the body roll while on the freeway.

My XJ has Disconnects on it and it see only a little hiway use the only reason is tire size and lift.
That said I removed the front swaybars on all my street/strip cars first thing and several saw 150+mph in the 1/4. You want to get rid of as much of the unsprung weight as possible, most of all in the front for weight transfer to rear.
I hate to admit it but I have street raced all my life as that is where a lot of money can be made. I really never really had a problem while driving on the streets and hiways without swaybars and with a spool (locked), Drag Radials very slick when wet (well a little I guess).
I really don't think your going to die if you remove them to give it a try as I drove home one time 55 mi. without mine because one disconnect got bent in some really rough trails. So they stayed disconnected till I got home to fix the problem and make sure it didn't happen again.

I have not had a swaybar on my xj in 2 years but it's mainly in my garage unless it's on the way to the trails. I am saving for an antirock for it since it's starting to see more street use

kinda makes you wonder why people waste all that money putting disconnects on their vehicles
there are gray areas though. if you have a lifted jeep that still has stock steering and white body shocks, you'll probably still want a sway bar. the guy who upgraded to bilsteins, long arms, crossover and set his caster and alignment correct will probably never feel the need for a sway bar. at that point it's preference
