Hey guys. I have a 98 cherokee with 4.5 inch lift on 32's. I was thinking of taking off my front sway bar. I know this would give me more flex. What are some other good and bad things about doing this?
Do it...I've had mine off since I've had the Jeep. Body roll is more noticeable but you get used to it. And if you do a bit of wheeling you don't have to mess with "quick"disconnects...etc

If this is a TRAIL ONLY rig toss the bar in the trash.. IF this is a rig that has to turn a corner on the street... Extend and add disconnects to the linkage. That bar is what keeps the rig from rolling-over on the street.

OP, your threads have been flagged for removal. You only need one post. Post in the right sections. And do a search. Topic has been beaten to death.
And you won't roll the second you go swayless. Adjust your driving accordingly. I've had mines off for a few weeks now in several different severe weather situations with no problem. I have quick discos if i ever want to use them.
There thread answered. Everyone resume normal thread hunting

What's to think about? Sure it will be better off road. Take it off and drive it for a week or so on road. If you don't like it put it back on. Your'e out no money and just a little time.

The impact no sway bar will have is directly related to the coil/shock stiffness. Soft coils=terrifying with no sway bar. Hard=not as much. I've ran mine without and HATE it. It's not too hard to test and see if you like it or not. Quick disconnects are a better route IMO but to each their own.

Tossed mine 9 years ago the day I first lifted my XJ. It has seen different lift amounts, road conditions and speeds since then and hasn't been one issue. The XJ has been rolled, but sway bars weren't gonna save it on the trail at 2 MPH.
To each their own.
Sorry for your loss.

Fear mongering about sway bars gets old. Should stock xjs do it. No. Soft leafs and coils. Aftermarket though and normal driving and its manageable.
you're not gonna flip the second you swirve.
Get quick discos if you're not sure if you want it
