Re check your control arms.... Jack it up. Pry it push it kick it. If your saying your track bar is all tight, it had to be either control arm

When you say you checked it, what exactly did you do? Get a wrench on it and try and tighten it? And it didn't budge at all? I'm still betting the track bar frame mount.

So I've crawled all over this jeep and I can't figure it out. When it pops it feels like its right under my floor board. I've tried to tighten every bolt and nut on it and they're all tight. Idk what else to do now. I've never been so confused on any vehicle I've worked on. If anyone can think of something please feel free to share.

My 97 does the same thing too - exact symptoms you describe. Believe it or not, it does seem to involve the track bar mount to the body. For what ever reason it resonates from there and tightening those bolts usually cures the pop. Mine just started popping again.

Ok I'll get back under it and put my impact on it then because I couldn't get them to move at all by hand. Hopefully that'll tighten them up, if not then idk what else to do.

I forgot to mention that my sway bars are taken off. Its been like that since I lifted it 6 months ago.

Hello guys. I am brand new here. I know i should be starting by doing an intro, however i wanted to reply to this topic first.

I had this exact same issue, even as far as actually feeling the pop under my floorboard. I took it in and my mechanic couldn't find anything even after i did some massive searching as well. originally i thought it was the track bar or ball joint.

I didnt get the answer until it was to late. driving in about a foot of snow home from work i hear a huge pop, and immediate grinding and pulsating. i had to drive 10 mph all the way home. But i still couldn't find the issue when i got home.... took it in to a suspension, and steering specialist and they finally found the problem. it was a u-joint at the stub axle on the passenger side. the u-joint was going bad so it would pop and create movement (i dont know how the heck it does this but it did) when u-joint finally exploded it tore my stub axle up. it needed replaced to hold a new u-joint.

I have not had any new poping at all since i replaced the u-joint, and stub axle.

Well its the u joint on the drivers side. I just grabbed it and it wiggles all over. Passenger side is still solid. I've been going nuts for the last week trying to figure this out and I didn't even think about the u joints. At least my 7 hour drive is going to happen now. Thanks gipper

Its funny how no one ever thinks about them lol I was looking for more obvious problems and who knew it was a u joint? At least its fixed and I made it on my trip with no problems at all. Thanks again gipper

to check suspension stuff, bushings and things have someone turn the wheel back and forth while you look at it. also get yourself a large pry bar like a 3 or 4 footer and pry on stuff down there while it is jacked up. the pry bar method is the best imho. while the weight is on the vehicle sometimes you just cant tell what is wrong. with a large pry bar and the vehicle jacked up you can really put some torq on individual bushings and see what is going on down there. my xj front suspension pops like a popcorn maker lol.
