Plasic side panels
Mine are all faded blue and I want to take them off (if possible without scratching paint or leaving ugly sticky residue on the XJ) and spray them flat black. Anyone know an effective way of taking them off and putting them back on? with time I might need to respray them so I would like to take them on and off with time.

Google how to take off the side trim, there are tons of thread on that. As for reapplying them just use some industrial grade 1/4" thick or so double sided adhesive tape. That's all that is really there from the factory. I doubt you'll want to put them back on after getting all of the old tape/glue off, but do what you want.

I was hoping it would look better black than ****ty faded blue, but yeah off the xj looks nice as well, simpler. I'll see. Thanks for the reply!

I've seen people tape them off and paint them while they are still on the truck. If you tape it off REALLY well and take your time with it then it may be easier than taking it off and dealing with the cleanup and re installation.

Yes. Did think about doing just that, taping it off real good but I fear too much that I will **** up and accidentally paint my truck or that the wind will carry it off and I'll have little black dots all over my jeep. Which would epically **** me the **** off and I would probabally start swinging at the wind lol jk but yeah, too risky

I removed mine about a month ago, it took about 40 minutes for each side. Take a hair dryer and heat it up pretty good, try to keep the heat on the trim and not the paint. Start at one end and start pulling up on it. This part is pretty easy, getting the tape off the doors is whats difficult. I used googone on a rag and after an hour I got it all off.

Lots of patience and goo gone. I just did this to my Jeep last week. It took about an hour to remove all of the tape residue per side.
