The Thrush Welded is an exact copy of the Flowmaster 40. The patent Flowmaster had for the 40s ran out and they never renewed it so Thrush literally copied the entire design.
I just ordered the Thrush Welded from Advanced for $40 shipped. It should be here sometime this week hopefully, I might take a video and post it on YouTube. Just depends on how my camera does at picking up the sound.
Also, is the plah plah plah plah sound you are referring to like pops after you let off the the gas or more kind of at idle?
Pops (a ton of pops BTW lol)

That popping is backfire/misfire. It's loading up on fuel and running poorly. It may sound good but its not for your engine. You're basically wasting gas. (Referring to the Neon video)

As for "loping" sound of a cam, that's usually because of larger duration. Larger duration isn't generally needed unless you have a larger bore/displacement than stock. The larger duration allows more air n fuel to enter the chamber to compensate for the larger cylinder/displacement. Some will tell you that its lift you need for that but that's somewhat wrong. Lift is how far the valve "unseats" or opens from the Cyl head. Duration is the length of time that the valve stays open. So in short yeah, you could open the valve more but the valve is still the same size so its only gonna allow x amount of air to pass. Now if you hold the valve open a little longer, it will allow more mixture to enter or exit the chamber. It's a direct relationship between the two for the engine to operate efficiently.

That's correct but you can also get the pops with a bad exhaust leak. Ask me how I know.
I've had a 2-chamber Flowmaster on my Dodge Ramcharger for over 20 years (That's right-20 years) and it still works like a champ. Good tone and no rust (of course, I live in Arizona, lol). When the stock muffler on my '93 XJ dies, I'm going to replace it with a Flowmaster.)

This is an inline engine. You'll never get the sound you are hoping for...exhaust pulses are all wrong.
I personally like having my straight cat, it sounds like a mix between a diesel and a V8 at idle, then when you rev it up it keeps a pretty deep sound, then has a sick gargle when it comes back down, I love it!

with mine, i have a lope at warmed up idle.
my exhaust is a walker down pipe with OUT the pre cat. then 2.5 in/out highflow cat into a 2.5 c/b with a spr 44. it is as described above. it sounds like a diesel and a v-8 at idle. its awesome.
I love the sound. Just because a car that has been cammed has a lope doesn't mean its over cammed, not even close. wow...lol.
there is a fine line between being cammed and over camed. lift, duration and lobe seperation is everything.

I have an Iron Rock cat back system on mine. Sounds great. Its been on the Jeep for almost two years. It does drone a little but thats at low rpm. Iron Rock has a sound bite on their website, my Jeep sounds a little deeper than it does online, but that could be my laptops crappy speakers.
