Never saw an XJ with any on it other than stock with small tires. I had them on my 1 Ton 4x4 trucks and all they were good for were getting torn off when you were off road or checking cattle.

About as worthless as **** on a boar hog, unless all you do is highway driving on smooth roads.

^ For me, the flaps keep salt-spray, saltwater and sand off the chassis, sliders and rockers. If I was riding trails or rocks than they could get in the way.
The stock ones are easily removable.

I was actually considering mud flaps for salt spray, too! I may end up just getting the jeep washed periodically throughout the winter

What is the point of that lawnedging? Looks like it does the opposite of what most want and close the wheel well opening.

Looks, and maybe add a tiny bit of protection for your tire, should it happen to rub during flex

Edit: on cut fenders, that is. Idk about on stock fenders

OK peanut gallery (JJ), the edging helps keep off the super corrosive sand and salt-spray.Tires stick out so needed to cover them.
I learned this the hard way, my last rig totally rotted out from it.

4 years ago when I built my rig I did not know any better, and flat flares were not on the market yet. If I could do it again, it would get flat flares and 2" OME lift.
Running the beach at 30-50 mph I use all 6" of up-travel.

I made some quick disconnect flaps using some generic rubber flaps and some 1x1 square stock and a pin. It's nice to be able to take them off quickly because they can get pulled off in the rocks. I bolted them to the front of the rear "frame" crossmember. It's a lot easier to do if youve done the cut'n'fold but I'm sure you could find a way without doing it.

I have rally armors( yes it's ricey) but they were the cheapest flaps I could find $17. They cover my 31x10.5 nicely

To be fair, depending on your state, mud flaps are technically required.
