Default Permanently engaging front axle shafts?

Okayy, so ive been looking around and have heard that some people lock over the engagement sleeve so that the axle shafts are connected... i understand the whole process, and it seems pretty simple... ibut i am afraid that the collar may slip out of position leaving me with no power up front again... i thought i read that some people use washers of some sort? can anyone help me with just explaining how to make sure it stays put?
thanks! , tom

Look into swapping a one piece shaft from a newer Cherokee/TJ.

I just used nylon zip ties. I'm going to eventually do the cable conversion, and run a mini spool up front with a lunchbox locker in the back.

yep, one piece shaft will give you the guarantee that its locked over. Just need a shaft and a seal, and a way to block off the port on the axle

If you want to do this on the cheap, I have a free version for you. Take the vacuum actuator off, take the E clip off holding the shift fork, slide the fork over and put the clip back in and move the collar on the axle over and reinstall the actuator.
