I searched but could not find an answer to this. I know there are a lot of threads out there about using the Champoin Copper plugs but has anyone used a performance ignition like an MSD 6AL on their 4.0 and did it help at all? I will be replacing the cam and the head on mine soon and getting some performance parts. Not looking for huge performance gains here, just cleaner burn and better throttle response. I am also getting 784 injectors.
Anyway, just wondering if anyone has used a capacitive discharge ignition and how it went.

On my RENIX XJ and MJ i use the ACCEL cap/rotor. The ACCEL cap/rotor has brass terminals and tends to last longer that other OEM replacements.
I'm partial to "LiveWire" plug wires and i always run NGK V power plugs.

I was just wondering if anybody had used a capacitive discharge ignition on a jeep and what improvement, if any, they got. I already have the copper plugs and cap and rotor with brass terminals. I put an MSD 6AL on my Tahoe and got a pretty noticeable improvement in mileage, throttle response and startup times. But if the Jeep engine's ignition is already as efficient as it can be, then it won't help.
I haven't got it in the mail yet but I ordered a Performance Distributors Firepower Ignition kit. I'll let you know how it goes once it's in. Sorry not much help now....

The NGK vpower copper plugs are awesome.... Thats what i run in my srt 4..... its what ive always run in my honda's..... Had msd set up on my srt 4, and the only real difference was that when it went bad and left me stranded on my way to work one morning, i had to replace it with stock parts again. There was no performance gain at all at the track..... and fuel economy did not improve... as far as on the jeep.... have not tried it.... but most factory ign systems can handle much more than factory settings...
