Hi one for the sparks anybody know the function of the engine disable signal, orange and black cable ,no 15 on the diesel ecu 1997 2.5 xj euro spec limited, is this the little gremlin thats stopping me starting the beast there is battery voltage with key in acc position , if not anyone know exactly how the security system stops the diesel from running, i would give 100 dollars reward to the first person who can answer this riddle, regards Rob

Is your battery charged and not low, my mom has a 93 zj with the security system and if the battery is too low when you go to crank it it trips the security and won't start. Good luck!

In reply to the last comment, WHY THE ---- would anybody want to steal a 1997 Jeep all i,m trying to do is get mine going again before the snow comes but as i live 100klm,s away from the nearest dealer with a drb 3 plus the parts are probably not available anymore i,m stuck. Is it possible to buy a pcm without security. If anyone can give me a correct answer to this problem i will stand on my word and send them 100 dollars, regards Rob

Further to the no start it seems after months of frustration i have now found the roundabout solution to the security issue with my xj. On the rke reciever in the overhead console there seems to be a fault i will take pics later and try and post them. Previously i had noticed that the security lamp on the dash would go out whilst checking continuity on the can bus cables, i have now discovered that by shorting out a tiny chip on the rke board for approx i miniute the security lamp goes out and i can start the jeep. What i need now are a good rke reciever and remotes that are programed to it for a 1997 diesel, is the rke reciever coded to the pcm any info greatly appreciated , regards Rob

Hi from across the pond ,been having problems with the rke in the roof console, i have now found a way to start the beast, by shorting out 2 capacitors on the rke board for approx 90 seconds the security lamp on the dash goes off and the beast fires up and runs perfect. If i leave the rke board connected and remove the key or leave the key on, within 2 miniutes the security light is back on and no start, however if i remove the rke board for any length of time after removing the key and go back refit the rke board the beast fires up no security light lit, but its one hell of an immobiliser and not one i need, any sensible input greatly appreciated.
