Just incase go over it again with the finer grit, you don't necessarily need to prime existing paint.
You do however need to worry about deep gouges. Primer-Filler won't even fill deep ones.
X2 on the gun, those under-feed types are more appropriate for home improvement, etc.

I found out a guy I know with a custom body shop will shoot this for me for real cheap if I do all the prep work. I like that idea I don't want to build a garage booth.

Your life, in terms of this project, just got WAY better.

That's what I was thinking!
Time for some pictures! 2 before pictures the paint job doesn't look that bad in actually. Then flaking off the rattle can clear coat with the airgun, took forever! Then the first pass with 80 grit.

Then i went over all the bare metal with primer and sanded again with 120 grit. Been using sanding sponges for the detail work. Going to prime the bare metal again then go over it with 400 before painting. The door handles are coming off painting day i need to drive this ugly beast in the meantime.

I was thinking about your project yesterday and ruminating over the burnt orange question. Kubota orange is not the only orange Valspar offers, they have an Allis Chalmers orange too. Not sure what the difference is but if you could see them side by side you may find that one is a better starting point than the other for your custom mix.

Thanks rev but i'm going to be using automotive paint now. He has gallons of unused paint lying around and gold and silver pearls so we're going to play around and mix a cool color. I won't have to pay for any paint that way just get the sealer, clear coat, hardener stuff like that. Should be painting next weekend.
