Steam clean the under carriage to remove all old oil, grease, dirt or the paint will not stick to anything.

Unless its a Mall Crawler the paint won't last to long anyway for off road.

Cover your front Brake Rotors well, You don't want any paint on these or down in the Pads. Bit tricky to paint the calipers and still keep it off of these parts.

you can spend hours trying to prep under your jeep. Buy a gallon of Dupli color bed liner(about $70 at oreilly auto parts) and a 2" paint brush. get a cheap tarp at War mart and park the jeep on it. wear old clothes and take your time.

Do NOT just start bed lining the underside. If you want more rust than you could ever imagine then do that. Bed liner over rust is a terrible idea and will only make it rust worse. Prep work is key, do it right once. As Fred said, he is correct. Clean it to be spotless before doing anything

You should use under coating not bedliner.

Correct. For best results a rubberized undercoating

This ^^^

And grab a roll of aluminum foil, use it to wrap lines, control arms, whatever you don't want painted. Quick and easy, and FAR easier to remove than miles of masking tape.

Default Great help

Thanks for everyone's input, I was able to start under the first fender yesterday, and it came out amazing, never would I have thought tin foil, it's perfect, cleaning all the tape strips up are so annoying. I was also able to repaint my header panel too, and I finished changing the interior panels from grey to black
