So installed HIDs today
NorcalMR2s pegasus projector housings with h7 4300k 55w bulbs morimoto harness and ballast kit
Heres some before and after pictures

^^ unfortunately i did not measure how far away i was the first shot, i think it was alot more then 25ft
and i took the pics in opposite directions.. oops.. but these were just my cell phone pics
my dad took some much nicer before and after pics that i will post up in a build thread later
anyways the second shot is at 25ft away
Ive read around and it seems to vary a bit
but a few people said 25ft away the top of the light should be 2 -3 " below the center of the headlight height
so my projector center being at 44" i aimed the top of the low line at 38" and the top of the high line at 42" i think im still gonna lower em more.. seems a little high for my application but i was following there directions.
now my question is on width. i was doing the test at 25ft and my light cross at the top was 2ft exactly.
is that a good cross ? or should i have more or less?
more would give me more hotspot less would give me more spread.

By proper retrofit u mean design my own housing shroud & projector
dremel everything to shape glue it all together and then put it on
Instead of just buying one from norcalmr2 already pre assembled in a 5x7 housing.
And I even got the discount of getting them used.
So ya I'd rather spend 200 bucks on a legit projector set up then "do a proper retrofit."

and i do plan on aiming them down a bit more
and in i just dont know if theres a rule of thumb to follow on width thats what i wanna find out.

and your proud of that??
thats really too bad.
well i hope the people where you live will learn when someone gets blinded by an on coming driver and crashes and dies... Oh wait, that already happened..

anyways back to the question.
im lowering the lights tonight another 3 inches hopefully ( if adjuster screws will go that much )
and im going to bring the aim inward a bit more.

Aren't you suppose to block one light, and adjust them individually? I don't think there is a "kink/elbow" in the beam pattern, where it bends upwards, for horizontal adjustment. I would adjust for a wider spread, it seems like the second picture is to close (but it may be due to the reflection off the wall).
Also the 55W bulbs are super bright. Why those over the 35W bulbs?

and wider seems like a bad idea
seems like where i have it is perfect.when im driving down a dark road it lights up the whole thing so im pretty pleased
and lol did you just answer your own question.??

brighter=what i wanted.
and i bought them used so no control over what he got.
thats like saying " also the power output of a 4.8l stroker is super high. why that over the stock 4.0l motor? "

I retract my previous statement I took it as you put hid's in a regular h4 housing. Kudos to you for doing the proper method of installing hid norcalmr2 did the retrofit for you and damn they have great prices I can't get the parts for the price they are selling those for.

What I meant was 55W HIDs are usually illegal due to how bright they are. 35W HIDs are plenty bright, and way brighter than any halogen. That is the only wattage I will run. Most OEM are 35W too. From personal experience, I have seen 55W ballasts and bulbs melt housings and wiring. Similar to high wattage bulbs in reflector housings on factory wiring. And they don't last as long. That's just my experience though.
I'm just glad you didn't put HIDs in a reflector housing and did it the correct way.
