you looked inside

so i looked on google and found miscellaneous pics of what i am looking for. a XJ that is on leaf spring in the front.

is it possible to do this with out going full width? i ask because i think i am going to go all leafs for my snow machine build.

i see alot of people reinforce the frame rails. but what i would like to see is your steering and front shackle mounts. or any pics you would like to share with me.

also how dose it flex? i am sure the ride isn't as good as coil springs but o well.

 

correct me if i am wrong. isn't the jeep wrangler on leaf springs front and rear? and would that set up be a close to bolt on set up? i ask because i read a lot of drive train and trans parts are interchangeable.

yes but i am not looking to spend a bunch of $. some things are well dollar coefficient some things are like peeing into the wind lol.

if i go long arm and re lift i am looking at a $1000+ if i can go all leaf and have the front end correctly built inside that well super. i'm new to jeep as far as modding one so i am looking for some who have gone in the proper direction and i can see there work so i can better execute the goal i have.

i keep finding photos of jeep that are finished. i am not down with jeep slang yet so i am having a heck of a time finding build threads at the moment. no t know the key words is why i haven't picked on the newbs on the bmw forum cus they have to ask to start learning. you can search and end up with the wrong finds a lot if you don't have the proper words. i look up leaf lifts i end up with a bunch of ford and chevy stuff etc.

doesn't make much sense to go leafs up front as without the proper knowledge and setup they don't flex as good as a four link and coils... and essentially if you pull the entire front end out of a 1995-older jeep wrangler YJ you'd be set except for mounts but you would have the steering and everything...

The amount of work is huge and there is no benefit unless you're going very tall with your lift (like...over 7").

It can be done but you need to know what you are doing(lots of research). It will take a while and will require you to do a ton of fab work. I never understood why people do it to there xj's, as it will not flex as well as a long arm set up or 4 link, but to each his own i suppose. In the long run it will probably cost you more money to do the leaf spring conversion than just running long arms.

 

its some thing i want to look into. i think leafs will do good in deep snow. thats what i plan on runnign in. not rocks or mud.

from ware i am at. it seems to be the cheapest way to get up on some 38's after you count in a nice lift with long arms.

i saw some write up's on improving your shackle angles. gives more drop and better flex and a better ride than normal if i understood right. i know coil springs are the best ride. they also have a price too.

i am trying to explore options.

Instead of wasting ur money on putting leafs up front, why dont you do a rear spring conversion and run 4 link. Preform alot better and you could run coil overs. I read a good article about different set up you can run with them and they seem to preform well. I feel like only mud guys would want to run full leafs. Iv seem 30+" leafs springs before. And most guys run those on old chevys and stuff
