Anyone know? stock is 2.72:1, would there be a change with the 6pinion? Wanting to do the 6pinion w/ widechain upgrade

I just installed a NP231 with wide chain/gears & 6 pinion planetary from Mountain Garage. Gear ratio is the same. The wide chain/gears and the 6 pinion planetary just make it stronger.

^^ Yup, added 3 planetary gears add none to the ratio, just the strength.

If you want 6 gears and 4:1 ratio you're looking at an NV241OR, or bolt on a TeraLow kit with 5.

I heard that you can get the internals from a datoka or durango since they both have 6 plantery gears but, they also have a sharp cut or a round cut on the gears. I've been looking into doin this, 231 hybrid as said on pirate I just can find the thread again.

No change. The extra planet gears don't change the ratio, they simply make the gearset stronger by allowing greater distribution of contact force within the Simpson gearset.

Changing the size of the elements in relation to each other will usually change the ratio. Increasing the number of elements merely improves the strength of the gearset (you can drop in planets until you pack up the gearset so it can't move - pull one out, space out the rest, you've made a stronger gearset.)
