So out of desperation I contacted lock right gave them what I believe to be the part #'s and asked for any advice. So far no reply but I'm sure I sent it after normal hours, fingers crossed that they can help me.
If not I may just cut of the other bearing and sawzall the the shaft and slip the whole carrier out.
Here is a picture of the lockrite locker on a table top.
The parts you are seeing are spacers. I have not taken one of these apart in about 10 years. You have to first get the case supported, then with a pick slide the cup shaped spacer toward the center of the case. That cup shaped spacer has the C Clip in it. that is there to prevent the C Clip from falling out. After sliding the cup over you can slide the axle around to pop the C Clip out, then repeat for the other side. Let us know how this works.
So I can't get a picture of it but the end of the axle shaft is rounded and doesn't look like it has a grove for a c-clip. The only thing stopping me from just pushing the driver out is this slight rounded end, even the little bit I can move the axle isn't enough to get the driver around it.
Rookie mistake Turns out it's a non c-clip d35 (didn't know that was a thing) and the slide hammer wasn't working because I didn't remove the 4 nuts holding the axle to the backing plate(?). Live and learn right.
Once I figured that out I had the locker out in 2 minutes.
Thank you guys for all the help.
I can't believe I guess right for once. Only thought of that because mine is non-C-clip being an 85 model.
Well you're way better than me because my 89 original axle was a non-c-clip too and I just thought, "he said something something c-clip so it couldn't possibly be a non-c-clip." It's noon somewhere so we drink now.
