It's just a common saying around serious drag racers. Ricers say nos because the fast and the furious basically made it the same term (not knocking the movie, actually think its fantastic but it definitely spreads a lot of BS). But nos is a company, you can spray nitrous without nos. It's just like using proper English makes you sound more intelligent. If you use the proper terms, you sound like you know what you're talking about, if you say nos you sound like a ricer. Guys with muscle cars can be ricers too, ricer is more of a mentality than what car you're driving. I know some guys with hondas that are much less ricers than guys I know with chevelles (and rustangs).

I think money would best be spent on this
http://radesignsproducts.com/14Shiftcontrollers.aspx
a shift controller for the aw4 that way you can keep it in the gear you want while on the trail and it won't decide to shift and bog down at the worst possible moment, I have seen write-ups on how to do it your self though not nearly as clean as this found it on Detour's build thread which is awesome and a must read on the forum

nono, bandaid is an accepted term for that, nos is definitely not accepted. Using the word nos when you mean nitrous is a disease, OP already said he doesn't know much about nitrous (which is perfectly ok, most people know next to nothing about it), which confirms the theory. On that note, I have not heard one single person speak knowledgeably about nitrous who uses the term nos instead of nitrous

And I will knock everyone I see using nos instead of nitrous, unless of course they actually have nos (not a bad brand to get).

this is a good suggestion. If you can keep it in 2nd with the situation you described it sounds like you would do fine.

skip the N20....
NOS is a brand of N20 parts
nitrous is not complete.
nitrous oxide is correct, or N20 just to clarify lol

A trans shift selector should help. its hard to make power cheap, that doesn't really work well...
you can only pick 2... cheap, powerful, reliable....

cheap and powerful is not reliable
reliable and cheap is not powerful
powerful and reliable is not cheap

I would save the penny's and either build a stroker or supercharge it. just my 2 cents

just leave it in second and ride that rev limiter like its going out of style . you never want to shift when your climbing a hill, it kills all forward momentum.

Technically Nos stands for nitrous oxide system which is what you need regardless if it also a brand name. Someone could say the same to you. If you just call it nitrous your ricer because its nitrous oxide and you use a nitrous oxide system on a vehicle

nnnnNNNNAAAAAAWWWWWWWSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!

Actually... when someone says nos... I think "New Old Stock".

To hear the acronym NOS in substitution to N2O drives some people (including me) nuts.... It's like referring to all SUV's as Jeeps.

All this aside... trail rigs have no need for N2O. Now if you where mud bogging or hill climbing then yeah... go for it.
