Honestly that doesn't sound like death wobble to me. It sounds like tires.

You can balance a bent wheel. You can balance a tire with broken belts, etc. Doesn't mean they aren't gonna shake at higher speeds.

I can also tell you that setting toe to the factory spec isn't always a magic fix. Some rigs just don't like to be sitting at perfect toe. You almost have to drive it, move the toe slightly, drive it again, rinse, lather, repeat.

I would really check the angles. I'm having DW now as well. I'm 95% sure mine is from the steering angles. I've already replaced everything on my front because it was worn to pieces.

Another thing to check...if you have had the pitman arm off recently, check that there is no play in the splines of that and the steering box. I doubt there is as I have only seen this once but its possible.

Another very possible cause.

I'm glad that someone else though of that. I was thinking of the same thing yesterday. I was thinking of taking the wheels off of my other cherokee and to try that theary out. The tires on those wheels are stock size though. Think it would be ok to try and swap out just the two fronts? or should I swap out all 4 since they are a smaller size?

Man would I feel like a dope if I spent all that time and money replacing the other stuff for it just to be the tires. It all had play in it and needed replaced but still. The wobble was just so harsh that I didn't think at first it could be just a tire problem. Plus when they balanced them they said they were good. But I get what your saying about the higher speeds.

My next suggestion was going to be to swap tires from a vehicle known to NOT have death wobble.

I would swap all 4.

You could just swap the fronts but I would just do all four. Then take it for a drive on some rough city streets, see what happens, and then take it out on the highway and see what happens.

Thanks a lot for all the great ideas guys. I'm gonna check the steering alignment and swap the tires out off my other Jeep within the next day and post the results. The bad thing about it being the tires is that it's the most exspensive thing to replace. But well find out soon enough. Wish me luck on solving the problem.

So I found the root cause of mine this afternoon and you wont believe what it was...

My front driveshaft was the cause. The axle side u-joint was shot. This caused vibs that I didnt notice. Then the splines wore out making it wobble like crazy. That then caused the whole axle to shake causing my DW. So, I'm without a front driveshaft until I find one that is not so hard on the wallet.

It is more than a vibration. Yes a bad vibration can feel like DW but true DW is the rapid bouncing and side-side movement of the tires/axle.

Watch the front tires and axle in this video:

That ain't just a vibration . . .

Evil Drew M-How the heck can a newer jeep like that have DW (Not doubting it, just can't believe my eyes)? That sucks! I can see it on an old XJ, but that Jeep looks pretty new. That's disheartening as hell!

Check your hubs. You moved the load farther away with less backspacing.
