Well it seems like most of you hate the idea of removing your exhaust at the headers, while i think it sounds good, but that's another story...my cat clogged on me on the interstate, dropping my top speed to about 35...so i got home, cut it off (then started it to hear how it sounded, AWESOME) but then i went to O'reilleys and bout some piping to straight pipe it...now it sounds so much better, and it improved my gas milage by about 2mpg...not to mention it's legal because we dont have emissions tests out here hahaha...what i was wondering is why is this helping my jeep? because my cat sucked or just because all cats suck in general?

the reason its getting better mpgs is its flowing better your cat was most likely slowly clogging causing a flow restriction resulting in bad mpgs . untill it finally expired, putting a new cat back on will most likely give the same results
