Default Newbie/sway bar questions

hello i just bought a 96 cherokee. it has a 4.5 inch lift and a short arm kit on it. the sway bar is missing. as of now i have a crazy death wobble from 35-40 mph. i was thinking of making this xj a trail only rig. my question is, is the sway bar a necessity? should i invest in quick connects? thanks in advance for the help and info.

Death wobble is from a long list of things from tires to ball joints.Has the jeep had a front end alignment since it was lifted?

Welcome to the forum!

If this for trail use only a sway bar isn't needed front or rear. Andrew is correct you need to have the front end checked and an alignment done.

welcome, a sway bar will not be a source of your death wobble, and neither will a steering stabilizer. if you do a search there will be plenty of topics covered on how to track down your cause of death wobble. dont be intimidated by it, if you systematically go through the checklist you will fix it!

If you get disconnects double check the lift size its for.... Obviously I bought the wrong ones lol. Rough country ones are pretty cheap I paid about 75 for mine

You dont need a sway bar. First thing I do to all my Jeeps is take off both sway bars and throw them away.
Not having a sway bar will have no effect on death wobble.
